FIDE TRAINER
GM Martin Petrov
Martin is a distinguished Grandmaster with a peak FIDE rating of 2556. He is the Bulgarian National Champion of 2020, the Balkan Champion in 2024, and a winner of the 2022 Trainers + Students Team Championship. Martin has also represented Bulgaria at the Chess Olympiad, competing at the highest level of international chess. In addition to his competitive successes, Martin holds the FIDE Trainer title and has coached numerous players, helping them succeed in national and international tournaments.
As a guest coach at our Elite Chess Club, Martin shared his chess adventures with us, like his victory over the legendary GM Alexei Shirov in the German Bundesliga. Martin was promoted to Lead Coach of the Elite Club from September 2025. His Chess Rising Stars student achievements include a silver medal at the British Chess Championships in the U8 category.
