Ryames Chan
Ryames is an English Chess Federation (ECF) registered chess coach from Hong Kong with over a year and a half of teaching experience, including leading school curriculum lessons, chess clubs and coordinating inter-school tournaments. He played competitively for the University of Southampton Chess Team before moving to London, where he completed a Master’s degree in Filmmaking.
As a strategic positional player, Ryames holds a FIDE rapid rating of 1659 and a peak FIDE blitz rating of 1849. He is currently training with the goal of reaching a 2000 ECF rating by the end of the year.
Ryames is passionate about helping students grow through chess, a game he believes teaches invaluable virtues such as discipline, patience, and critical thinking. He strives to inspire both confidence and curiosity in his students, nurturing a lasting appreciation for the game.
He speaks fluent Mandarin and Cantonese.
