Join our newest junior chess club, launching in April 2026.
Chess Rising Stars London Academy has designed the ideal environment to help introduce the game to younger children. Lessons are shorter than at our original Wimbledon Chess Club and will be in a smaller teaching group.
Your child will discover the joys of learning chess in an interactive and enjoyable setting. We will work together on chess strategy and tactics, as well as associated skills such as sportsmanship, planning, and focus.
Registration is now open for the Summer Term.

Chess Rising Stars Junior Clubs
We also teach a class for 5 to 8 year olds at our Chelsea Chess Club. This group was established in 2024 and its success has encouraged us to start a Wimbledon version.
Completely New to Chess?
No knowledge of chess is required, although we suggest that children without a chess background join the club by week 3 of the term.
Independent Learning
We keep regular contact with parents and provide resource packs to help their children to learn chess. Our emails include study materials from ChessKid, Logiqboard and lichess.
Safeguarding
We comply with the Department for Education’s publication ‘After-school clubs, community activities, and tuition: Safeguarding guidance for providers’. Please read our Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct and Terms and Conditions.
Travel
An 8-minute-walk from South Wimbledon underground station or a 14-minute-walk from Wimbledon station.
Additional Information
- Trophies, medals and toys will be awarded at the end of the term.
- The sessions will be taught by experienced members of the Chess Rising Stars coaching team.
